Our Team

The festival is created and shaped by the unique collaboration between the partners, the FFF organization, the volunteers, the program council, the moderators, the panelists, and the board. This is not an easy task, it requires a lot of coordination and flexibility, but the result is worth it!


Meet The Team

William Fotherby

Chair

About me


William Fotherby is a partner at the law firm, Meredith Connell, specializing in litigation, fraud, and white-collar crime. He acts in cases involving suspected fraud and whistleblowing, money laundering and sanctions, contractual disputes, breaches of directors’ duties, and employment obligations. He has acted for national governments, financial institutions, large multinational companies, and high-net-worth individuals. He holds a Master of Laws degree from the University of Cambridge, with first-class honours. He previously worked as an attorney in the London office of an American law firm, in one of the world’s best white-collar-crime practices. In 2017, he was admitted to the English Bar and is a member of Middle Temple. In 2023, he was admitted to the bar of the Pitcairn Islands. He is the International Chamber of Commerce Fraudnet member for New Zealand and authors the New Zealand chapter of the GIR Practitioner’s Guide to Investigations.

Steve Newall


About me
Steve has programmed and produced the Aotearoa edition of the Fraud Film Fest since its inception. As the editor of film website Flicks, he manages a talented team of contributors, writing and commissioning features on cinema and streaming content for millions of readers across Aotearoa and Australia. Steve is also a board member of the Oscar-accredited Show Me Shorts film festival, and fights for the future of grassroots live music venues as co-founder of Independent Music Venues Aotearoa.

Ian Tuke


About me
Ian is a forensic partner at Deloitte and leads the firm’s Deloitte’s Financial Crime and investigation services in New Zealand. With an initial 13 years with the NZ Police, for the last 30 years Ian has been assisting organisations with the prevention, detection, investigation and remediation of integrity, fraud and financial crime related issues in New Zealand, South East Asia and throughout the Pacific. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner. Ian travelled to the Netherlands in 2015 after hearing about the Fraud Film Festival held in Amsterdam. He returned to NZ with the support (and IP) from the Dutch Festival, with the first of four successful NZ editions taking place in 2016.

About me


Paul has significant experience in the areas of counter-fraud, anti-corruption and integrity. His roles have included Deputy Chief Executive Operations and General Counsel at the Serious Fraud Office overseeing its financial crime, corruption and bribery investigation and prosecution work and also the Head of Enforcement at the Financial Markets Authority tasked with leading their response to financial crime. Paul has also represented New Zealand on various international committees relating to fraud, corruption and financial crime generally. Paul O’Neil is currently the General Counsel at the Sport Integrity Commission which helps ensure sport and recreation in Aotearoa is safer and fairer.

Allan Levet


About me
Allan Levet is a Chartered Accountant currently working in risk management in the health insurance industry. Allan has held the Treasurer position for the New Zealand International Fraud Film Festival since just after the first event back in 2016. Allan became involved in the investigation of fraud during his 15 years in the Telecommunications sector and continued in the public sector working for ACC who sponsored the last four events. Understanding why fraud occurs has been a passion allowing a focus on how to prevent fraud from occurring, and to increases the public awareness of fraud and its impact. Working with the Fraud Film Festival team has been a great way to keep in touch with the fraud detection and prevention industry.

Become a festival volunteer

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us before and during the Fraud Film Festival.

For example, we are looking for someone to promote the Fraud Film Festival to the public. You will do this by keeping the website up to date and sending out messages through social media, newsletter, and mailings.

We are especially busy in the last weeks before the festival and are looking for people who would like to help us with the organizational work in the office.

And of course, we could use your help during the festival itself on November 2nd and 3rd.
